The Mediterranean island of Mallorca is now well-known as a sport climbing destination and it has also established itself as the home of Europe’s best deep water soloing. The main guidebook to the climbing on the island for the last 24 years has been published by Rockfax and this updated 2020 edition adds to this legacy with another blockbusting volume for the sun-seeking climber. The possibilities for winter sport climbing on Mallorca first came to prominence in the late 1980s, whilst deep water soloing really took off in the late 1990s. The first Rockfax publication was in February 1995 and covered 12 sport crags across the island. This book is the eighth Rockfax publication and covers 34 sport crags and 16 DWS crags making 50 in total. The routes in this guide are presented in the familiar full-colour Rockfax style which offers the clearest method available for locating and choosing your routes for the day. What’s new since the last (2016) edition This is closer to a reprint than a new edition and, if you have the 2016 edition, then you may not need this one. Having said that, every page has been looked at and every route checked with feedback added from comments and votes on the UKClimbing logbook database. There are literally hundreds of small changes throughout the book and around 50 extra routes added to the existing crags.
